Funders have different criteria, some may be interested in allotments or more widely the environment, so allotments might fit the criteria. Others might be interested in certain areas or people or outcomes such health and wellbeing. It depends on what activities you will be doing at the allotment and why e.g. reducing isolation. Every year the LAF awards up to 3 grants to support Leeds sites through fundraising. The LAF grant provides up to £500 in funding to support projects that enhance the productivity, sustainability, and social value of allotment spaces.
Some of the KEY PRIORITIES could include:
- Improving water access through reliable connections and rainwater harvesting.
- Implementing pest control measures, such as fencing.
- Upgrading facilities such as waterless toilets.
- Delivering measurable social benefits, such as promoting mental wellbeing, outdoor activity, and community engagement and many more.
All improvements will be considered by the LAF committee, ensuring that sites remain thriving, inclusive spaces for all.

2026:
- Byelawmens Field Allotment: purchase of a solar energy system (Photos to follow when completed)
2025:
- Church Lane Allotments: purchase of a woodchipper to enhance the sustainability and accessibility of their shared green spaces.
- New Wortley Allotments: grant to reinstate Beehives and restore the Apiary and Create a Small Wildflower Meadow and Community Orchard
- Springfield Close Allotments: plot clearance and parking
2024:
- Gledow Valley allotments: Replacement of a toilet block to improve accessibility to all.
- Headingley Station West Allotments: improving the parking area by creating further aggregates.
