Recipes for June

With purple purple broccoli and kale sprouts finished and spring sown veg not ready yet, there can be a bit of a hungry gap in June.

But wait! Here are some recipes for allotment produce in June, from some Leeds allotment sites:

Phil Gomersall, Publicity Officer for Leeds Allotment Federation received

Lord Mayor presents the certificate to Phil

a certificate, on behalf of the Federation, in recognition of the outstanding contribution that the organisation makes to the citizens and communities of Leeds.

The certificate was presented by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Graham Latty at a Civic Celebration for Small Groups and Charities in Leeds. The event was very well attended and held in the Lord Mayor’s Banqueting Suite in the Civic Hall.

Tom Maynard

Tom Maynard has died, following a decline in his health over the last few years. He will be greatly missed.

Tom was a stalwart of the Leeds Allotments Federation and has been a very active member throughout his time with the Federation. He has held many positions over the years from Treasurer, Secretary, Acting Chair and President. We spent many hours together promoting allotments in the early days with a makeshift stand at many shows and judging Leeds allotments in the Leeds Allotment Competitions. He has put an awful lot into the federation over the years.

Tom’s funeral is on the 29th March 2018, 1.30pm at Christchurch on Armley Ridge Road.
